A pump pot for coffee and tea

A pump pot, also called an airpot, is an insulated jug with a pump mechanism on top. Instead of lifting and pouring, you press the lid and the drink flows out of the spout, which makes self-service easy and keeps the jug steady on the table. The Emga stainless steel pump pot 2.2 litres (Pompkan RVS) is made of stainless steel, a sturdy material that is easy to clean and does not take on flavours quickly.

Tips for using your thermos jug

Rinse the jug with hot water before filling, so the inner wall does not cool the coffee straight away. Fill it with freshly brewed coffee, close it well and avoid leaving coffee in the jug overnight. A regular rinse with a mild cleaner keeps the taste fresh, and leaving the lid open while the jug dries prevents stale odours.

Brewing and serving

A pump pot pairs well with a filter coffee maker such as the Severin white 10-cup coffee maker from coffee machines. To keep the machine in good shape, use a descaler like Melitta Anti Calc Descaler, available among the appliance cleaners.
