Amarena cherries from Italy

Amarena cherries are small, dark sour cherries preserved in a thick, sweet syrup. They are an Italian classic on top of ice cream, in cocktails and on cheesecake. Fabbri is a well-known name, and you can buy the Fabbri Amarena in a 230g jar for home use, the 600g size for regular baking or the 1.25kg tin for professional kitchens. There are even single portions in the 24x 35g pack.

Toschi is another Italian option. The Toschi Amarena Frutto & Sciroppo contains fruit and syrup in one tin and is ideal for ice cream parlours. Fabbri also makes Fragola Fabbri strawberries for a fruity, red alternative.

Peaches and pears in syrup

Canned fruit is ready to eat straight from the tin or jar, so you always have a dessert ingredient within reach. Peaches in syrup are a timeless favourite for fruit salads, tarts and quick breakfasts. The Aarts Peaches in light syrup are delicious with yoghurt or vanilla custard, while the Aarts Baby pears make an elegant dessert with chocolate sauce. For bigger volumes, the Del Monte Halved Peaches in Juice come in a box of six large tins.
